Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Modern Microbiology (IJMMB) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes high-quality research in microbiology and life sciences. The journal welcomes original contributions that advance scientific knowledge in medical, environmental, agricultural, and industrial microbiology, as well as interdisciplinary domains.

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that demonstrate scientific rigor, originality, and relevance. IJMMB follows internationally accepted publishing standards aligned with ISSN guidelines, COPE ethical practices, and globally recognized scholarly formats.

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors must submit manuscripts electronically as a single Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx) including text, tables, figures, and references.

2. Types of Manuscripts

IJMMB publishes the following categories:

Research Articles

Original experimental or theoretical research in microbiology with clearly described methodology and reproducible results.

Review Articles

Comprehensive and critical analysis of recent developments in microbiology and related disciplines.

Short Communications

Brief reports of novel findings, preliminary results, or innovative techniques.

Case Studies / Technical Reports

Applied research, clinical case analyses, or technical advancements in microbiological sciences.

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English and structured as follows:

  • Title
  • Author(s) Name and Affiliation
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review (if applicable)
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgement (optional)
  • References

4. Manuscript Formatting

 Layout

  • Single-column format

Font

  • Times New Roman, 10-point

Title

  • Bold, centered, sentence case

Authors

  • Include full affiliation: department, institution, city, country, email

Abstract

  • 150–250 words
  • Must include objective, methodology, results, and significance
  • No references, tables, or figures

Keywords

Provide 4–6 keywords separated by semicolons

Example:
Microbiology; Antimicrobial Resistance; Molecular Biology; Biotechnology; Pathogenesis

5. Figures and Illustrations

  • Insert figures within the manuscript
  • Use high-resolution images
  • Prefer grayscale unless color is necessary
  • Each figure must include a caption
  • Number sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)

6. Tables

  • Create using MS Word table function (not images)
  • Number sequentially (Table 1, Table 2, etc.)
  • Include descriptive captions
  • Cite tables in text

7. Equations and Scientific Notation

  • Use MS Word Equation Editor
  • Number equations sequentially
  • Define all variables and symbols

8. Materials and Methods

This section must clearly describe:

  • Microbial strains and culture conditions
  • Laboratory procedures and experimental design
  • Instruments and laboratory equipment
  • Molecular or biochemical techniques
  • Software tools and statistical methods
  • Data sources and experimental controls

The methodology must be detailed enough for reproducibility.

9. Results and Discussion

  • Present findings clearly with appropriate tables and figures
  • Avoid duplication of data
  • Interpret results scientifically
  • Compare with existing literature

10. References and Citation Style

IJMMB follows a numbered citation style similar to IEEE format.

In-text citation:

  • [1]
  • [2–4]
  • [5, p. 210]

 Authors should cite recent and relevant international literature.

11. Ethical Standards

IJMMB strictly follows COPE and international publication ethics.

Authors must ensure:

  • Original and unpublished work
  • No simultaneous submission
  • Proper citation of all sources
  • No plagiarism or data manipulation

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.

12. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors must submit a signed Copyright Transfer / Publication Agreement
  • Permission is required for reused content (figures, tables, etc.)

13. Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review:

  1. Initial editorial screening
  2. Reviewer assignment
  3. Expert review and comments
  4. Author revision
  5. Final decision

Review Timeline: Approximately 2–4 weeks

14. Proofs and Publication

  • Accepted papers are copyedited and formatted
  • Authors receive proofs for final approval
  • Articles are published online as open access
